He told the prince "But Bridgette, she'll be safe until I can observe her," so I think it's pretty clear he's saying that he knows the prince delayed her summons so he could have a chance to do something to her to prevent her spirit from coming out again and he'd protect her from him. After all, if her spirit is reevaluated and proven to be powerful, her status as a noble will be restored, and that means that not only is it a stain on the prince's record that he cut things off with her but his mistreatment of her will come to light and anything she says will now have weight to it. It makes sense that he'd want to sabotage her, and the expert clearly means well if he's protecting her.

yeah the spirit is very important in this world as in literally god of nature walk among mortal and wasn't like the spirit can't lie and anyone that doubt that will be kill?
and this dude is expert for said spirit worship, he absolutely mean well.

her parents lost their spirits because of what they did to her, adopted a kid to use his powerful spirit to pretend that didn't lose their spirits. Their abuse towards Bridget, enslavement of a kid and lies are later discovered. They get punished for lying to the royal family and hampering Bridget's ability to use a powerful spirit for their country. They are thrown in jail for all of that

If her spirit wasn't unknown, I would have thought it was a spirit of the chicken nuggets phoenix species. It is tiny and a chicken, so it all fits.
But it is unknown/nameless, so in the end it is something else.

Hope she names it chicken nuggets or teriyaki.

Different. The religion worship spirits and treat them like higher being, but that guy approach it more like spirits are friends.

He’s what's called Spirit Professor (or spirit whisperer), people who managed to get close and have deep understanding about spirits. There are even individuals who got brought to spirit world. They are most of the time, not interested in involving themselves with human’s business.
That’s the kind of person Brigitte sought to be, that’s why she learns a lot about the spirits and try to communicate with them.
