One, it's "you're" or "you are" (not the possessive/genetive pronoun "your").

Two, you both are wrong. Given what occured with Neville's æriel, it's mostly likely that Pii can eat magic/mana. In other words, Pii would had needed to move quickly enough to eat Joseph's ball of flame before it ignited those poor books. Since she doesn't know what kind of spirit Pii is yet (she only has suspcions; not something a sane person bets someone else's life on unless there are no other options), she erred on the side of caution (not like those gloves would be useful to Bridgette in her current situation — by the time the wood were burnt enough for her to try to break, she would have died from carbon monoxide poisoning).

To be fair, she does have fire-related trauma so it's actually not that far-fetched that she wouldn't think very logically in this particular moment.

I'd get that but as is it feels like there's a huge problem with her attitude plus the blocking/pacing?

- When he starts the fire on page 33 we can see a pretty large section of the room that's not on fire at all.

- There are a lot of panels between that and the end of the chapter, which makes it feel like a decent amount of time has passed.

- She doesn't seem panicked or even like she's moving especially quickly.

Overall it feels like there were maybe five minutes before the fire got super bad where she did nothing
