Unrelated, but I wonder why knowing how to cook is considered "unnoble"; there were plenty of monarchs with interest in mundane activities, even in Japan.
Because nobles have people to do that for them and working is not a "noble" thing.
Nobles did had a interest in commoner things but were usually something of a hobby and not something a marriage age individual would have.

It is considered maid work by European high society of the middle ages, which looks like what was used for the background of the story.
