Yoooooo. They actually did it, and I have to admit, the sudden transition to art sketch pages was a very classy way to do it.

I'm still kinda sad how rushed everything feels ever since the whole debacle with Scumbag Teacher. I don't know if the author planned it all this way, but I still feel like Gin came to the realization of his feelings for Sensei a bit too fast. I sure hope she didn't leave him, though. It would really suck if she chose to abandon him just so he'd go to art school or something like that.

I guess the whole thing about rating new students' paintings doesn't matter anymore?

There is a scene in the previous chapter where he runs back to expose his new painting and we see Sensei's teary-eyed face and him, and I think that's when they make up. Things have been moving fast in this volume, probably because the ending had to happen sooner than later.

I remember reading a manga with the sensei going blind and just disappearing in thin air when their students (love interests) offered to take care of them, if I remember right last chapter is them reuniting with their students and accepting them, this chapter ending kind of gives me the same vibes, setting next chapter to be sensei missing and them reuniting at the end of it

What a banger of a chapter (in more ways than one apparently), I too feel like the story ended up going a bit too fast, though it was done quite tastefully in my opinion, it's interesting 'cause that's the feel I get with Gin as well, he kinda needs to realise his own feelings fast and act quickly on them, as he's always under some underlying pressure that's sometimes not explicitly stated, like on the case with his feelings about Sakura-sensei, things usually go in quite the fast tempo for teenagers, and in this case, he feels and knows that he needs to act quickly or he'll risk losing his connection to her.

And funnily enough, on the times he actually is under no pressure and can relax he sometimes kinda fuck up (like the case with the being harsh with the new students) and putting himself under pressure again so that he NEEDS to act quickly.

One thing I wish we got, was a bit more insight on the perspective of Sakura's character, I think we never really got personally her PoV on the story, and now that there's the risk she won't be there anymore, at least not on the same way (since there's a ongoing health issue we have no detailed knowledge about), that stings a bit more. But I understand that this actually works for the best for this story, since it's mainly Gin's tale (with a bit of the art club's other main characters), and since we are having mostly his perspective, it makes sense to learn about just as much as he does, specially concerning Sakura's character, it's no wonder she feels so interesting, alluring, but at the same time so human as well, she's his mentor, but at the same time something more, and they really did end up developing more than a relationship of teacher and student, and I don't say this just in the sexual relationship way, they truly did end up supporting one another and having a positive influence on the growth of each other. It really makes me wish that their relationship may flourish further rather than just reach it's peak now and end up like a beautiful flower that soon will wither.

Ended up ranting a bit, I think I'm just a bit sad this series is ending, I've been having a blast reading it. As always, thank you very much for the scanlation.

Why go to art school when you can draw hentai erotic figure paintings here? I'm happy with this ending. Sakura and Gin's relationship culminates with their views on art coming together. It's not about prestige, or academic knowledge of art, or technical skill. It's about genuine connection between the artist/viewer, or between two lovers.

Yukari's painting that won the exhibit is another example. Clement Greenberg (that gatekeeping asshole!) would have derided it as kitsch. Contrary to a small selection of critics, it's what the people resonated with. Kitsch is authentic.

Without an explicit statement of Sakura's motivations, I'm guessing she wanted to be seen. Both as an artist and as a desirable person. It's why she painted herself nude, and why she wanted to expose herself to her teacher and her student. It's implied she's not just losing her sight, but her life. Being seen becomes a legacy. Gin's kitschy painting of her as a goddess (I like to fuck. GILF!) would be pretty satisfying to her. One of the themes of my masters' thesis was that your art becomes a commodified symbol for yourself. If Sakura can get people to value her as an art object, in a symbolic sense she gets to live on.
