It's because he's not just a hero but a real leader, he understands people and knows how to motivate them and put them where they are most useful. There's been been people like that in history as well and they tend to truly change the world.

I reckon its different, in the previous one he took posesion of fiona's brother and stopped this demon before he executed his plans
its likely this time around he was unable to revive yet because of the rewind messing with his soul, since he'd be able to just destroy young albus if he kept his memories

well he at least learned about the ability to travel through time, not sure if it got to that level, but I feel like he's hiding somewhere again (in soul form) and it's only getting the energy from the tree, as Rayleigh escapes at the tree blossoming so he doesn't know how he reappears.
