@Lilliwyt: What are you talking about? They're halfway up a mountain and lost in the wilderness and will probably find themselves right near where they need to go once they work their issues out and the rain lets up. They've just been telling us the story of how they got there. Just jumping to them in the cave and not explaining it would make no sense. The whole "how did we get in this situation again" is a classic form of writing.

@Lilliwyt Looks like romantic progress to me. They're in the classic "Relying on the other person after you fell off a cliff in the wilderness" bit we see so often. More common in shoujo than yuri, because they're busy doing the sexist "rely on the big strong man" bit. But it's potentially nice here, because the girl who fell is normally so self-reliant and a bit untouchable. Now she screwed up, and she twisted her ankle, she's going to need to lean on the MC both physically and psychologically, as well as crack open her austere facade and show vulnerability. This will totally bring them closer.

Usually when you say in advance something is a red herring it turns to not be a red herring.

But hey, with her name being Lily and our MC having that hairstyle, raining and covering in a mini-cave, this is a complete copy of the Pokémon Sun/Moon Exeggutor island scene with MC and Lillie. If this is intentional, then the romantic development will go hard in chapter 5.3

Superstition or not, this chapter for was a great set-up for actual romantic stuff to happen — so far it’s just been a one sided relationship.
