That said there are merits too of going over that fear and telling them, IMO, if the other person such as Wendy (or whoever else), decided they are scared or pushed Almark away after what he has done for them, they are not worthy of being friends (or whatever other personal relationship).
So, they will know eventually (maybe), considering the story progression.

Seems odd for the northern countries to be in a state of perpetual war while their southern neighbors are completely unaffected.

The butler really did mess up, but what actually ticks me off here is that "he didn't mean it that way" Like man, you're the grown up, chose your words correctly. This butler just single handedly confirmed Almarks insecurities because he didn't phrase things well. The butler speaks out of turn. Is that how he treats his master guest and the one who helped them? That's indirect insult to his master. Geez, those generic Sebas buttler have more manner than this old dude.

And i feel like this whole chapter just unnecessary. If the author insists on this chapter to be done because of the typical Japs reserved personality and morale self justification monologue, it could be done better. This should be done: Almark doing inner monologue or prolly heart to heart chat with the fat dude and Wendy, while the ass butler discusses it with Wendy father.
