1 kcal = 1 Calorie.
However, nowadays people use Calorie, calorie, and kcal interchangeably, but they all pretty much mean the same unit.

I'd seriously tell her to lay off the breads, high amount of sweets and excessive amounts of rice. Carb up on competition day.
As long as you feel strong, perform great theres nothing wrong. Forget the scale. Be glad you aren't weight cutting.

And just as a calorie aside; it takes a deficit of ~ 3500k to lose 1 pound.
P.S. Athletes eat like fucking horses. Got a power lifter mate who LOSES weight if he's bellow 4000kcal a day.
