I feel like us readers know how amazing she is but to the nobles, especially to her family, because she's so exceptional (that even her tutors sees it) they see it as a liability that differentiates them. And with how sh*tty all their personalities and how stupid and incompetent they are, they don't want her to be better than them. So why not just belittle it and call it a curse instead, gaslighting her into thinking that? Especially since she's a kid, you might as well pound the stick when it's ripe.
Which you know, I think many cases it's kind of stupid and overthrown but I think this manga does it pretty well. It especially does not help that she's the former wife which makes her stand out (especially to the new wife and daughter) so let's find flaws to call her a freak of nature (because being a genius is rare so on the flipside, people can see it unnatural).
