It was a punishment because they were getting Nanami to do something that she was uncomfortable with, but the actual thing they wanted to get her to do was something they thought would be good for her because she was a) constantly having guys confessing to her while upsetting her and b) didn't have any experience with men and c) were worried that something would happen to her.
