As most of you know, there are two sides of cute romance. There is the "natural flow" in which the characters are naturally cute together. Than there is the "forcefully flow" where the creators have to forcefully shove cute moments together.

I knew I wasn't crazy! I thought I had read this too, but I guess not? There are a couple plot point I don't remember reading, like the haircut and the aquarium—but I definitely remember the bucket scene at the start and the end reveal where she finds out he's always known about the punishment game.

That being said, even if I'm thinking of a whole different manga I wouldn't be surprised since the whole premise here is pretty cookie-cutter lmao

People say bland, carbon copy or a cookie cutter....MC isn't the usual beta (really don't like this word but it transfers a lot of qualities) MC. He doesn't get all girly on us readers and is assertive in the right moments.
He can say i love you and he can make physical advances.
This is what i want to see from 90% of MC's from the same genre, it's also a good guide for typical losers who read it in Japan, because it became blatantly obvious that authors are pondering to loser like behaviour.

Spoiler: Rant about usual wish fulfillment

If you want a girl: Be assertive and considerate. Make compliments don't be afraid to say meaningful words (girl do like words almost the same as actions unlike men). Be assertive and conscious, be ready to make a move. Be clean (like some guys are outright disgusting, one thing is among guys other thing is with girls, we are different).

What our usual wish fulfillment mangas do: Dude with loser mentality and kindness out weakness is being love bombed by fantasy girl. He looks like a scrub and acts like one, his hobbies are nothing ohh maybe some otaku stuff.

Pondering to fat asses (i'm one btw not the hippo who needs 2 seats but on the heart risk spectrum), losers and other negative traits doesn't make them (at least me) like the material better, i feel like you are lying about common sense for profit. Almost everything can be changed, if i really wanted to i could get ripped. If you have low self-esteem or in general loser like mentality if you research and apply the research you can turn around that mentality.
Heck even height isn't much of an issue on a desperate end there is surgical operation to get few inches(cm).
