A bit odd for the author to label Maebashi as "the girl Hiro is interested in" when he seems to show no attraction to or even really interest in her. She just seems like his friend.

My guess would be that the previous translator mixed it up with something like "the girl Hiro is close with".

Well, in ch.3 it was "Classmate", but there was also shown that they spend decent ammount of time at school together, so who knows.

(Or maybe it was author wanted to reveal that kind of information out of the blue in this chaper... We will never know)

I just got a new piece of info. There is, in fact, an error in the TL's in 9.1. It's Maebashi that is interested in Hiro, not the other way around...
