I remember my first day at work. A group of drunk grandmas, a group of boys who wanted to run away without paying the bill and not knowing how to make a aperol-spiritz (I served the guest pure aperol).
Shino's first day wasn't so hard.

Can anyone explain to me the pimp joke?

That flew over my head, too. The word used in the raw was 'ヒモ' (himo), which I believe can either mean 'pimp', or 'good-for-nothing partner' colloquially. I used the latter meaning the second time it appeared since the manager was talking about it in the context of a boyfriend, but I'm not entirely sure how it's appropriate the first time it appeared. Would appreciate it if someone else who speaks Japanese could explain it.

Maybe it's a pop-culture reference?

Himo means leech in Japanese. The best English equivilent I know would be mooch, in other words they're talking about a good for nothing who just leeches off of his girlfriend.

Himo is basically japanese slang

It basically means “a man living off a woman’s money”

Not in the way like a stay at home dad or a house husband. As in someone who just lazes around at home all day while his wife/girlfriend works and does all the chores by themselves.

It seems like way too many people work there at once.
