One thing this manga made think about is the inherent unfairness of social relationships. Segawa was bullied and ostracized as a child because of her hobbies and that made her close herself off from the rest of her classmates. But now that she’s older, even tho she is technically a victim, she has to accommodate to norms of the world. There’s been a few chapters in which Segawa is criticized for how she either closes herself off from everyone(as in she is the cause of her own lonelines) or she is portrayed as “needy” in her relationship with Koumoto. Even tho her behavior was caused by the bad treatment she received from others, she is expected to be responsible for her problems. And I do believe this mirrors real life. Despite the world being responsible for giving you pain and trauma, you are the only person that can help yourself, you must be the one that seeks betterment for your life even if it wasn’t your fault. Because people won’t search for you and make things right for you. Everyone has their own lives and they WILL move forward with their lives with or without you. So in this manga, despite Segawa being a victim, she has to be the one to change instead of society changing for her, otherwise her life won’t improve.
