This is painful to read. The people reading this manga have already seen the dragon girl having sex with the edgy guy, who managed to temporarily mind-control the MC students and gets away with it. What I am more interested in is MC's past, and that's it. I want to know how he knows his former comrade, how they died, and how he became what he is. But that's too much to ask, according to the author of this manga.

Maybe author will make so that nobody outside the girls see Washio fight and he'll give the merit to someone else so he can stay miserable for some obscure reason instead of having character development.

This is all so bad... the author is clearly trying to course correct after all the backlash he received from the previous chapters (rightfully so), but the way he's going about it all just wrong.

All it took to make Washio move was for the tako to say his background was forged WHICH HE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN, HE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO COULD KNOW THAT and her showing the drug, which caused him to immediately figured everything out, including the guy's true identity, objective and methods, and also made him skip his character development straight to he point where he jumps into action and we never get to see him realizing his failings!

The damage had already been done to the story with how long this arc took and how low Washio set himself to be at, now was the time for the tako girl to have a heart to heart with him, make him realize they're miserable at school without Washio to back them up and that Drako is their enemy. Make Washio comprehend that him putting himself down is harming everyone else, and the only way to fix things is to stop punishing himself for whatever sins he believes he has committed and strive to be a respectable and dependable teacher.

Chapter 36 should have ended with Washio saying something like " I thought I was protecting you girls by distancing myself from you, but all I did was cause more pain and suffering that you would not have gone through if I had put my heart into being your teacher. I will not allow that to happen ever again."

Chapter 37 should have been them marching towards the school to confront Julius while planning on how to deal with his ability to control the monster girls, either coming up with a solution to prevent the mind control from happening or finding a way to keep them away while Washio deals with Julius by himself, preferably ending with him having to deal with Drako that has already fallen prey to him and been defiled (yeah, that's right! Since you already heavily implied that let's capitalize on it and make Drako be an example of how far wrong things went because Washio kept running away and how long the road to healing from such an experience can be).

This whole "I was just pretending" retcon here makes absolutely no sense whatsoever! Why pretend in the first place? Why get naked and sit on his lap while looking all miserable like that if you were in control the whole time!? Now Draco doesn't look like a dependable secret ally, she looks like a hoe that didn't want to save anyone until things were about to blow up on her face because the dick was too good to pass on!

This is clearly the author trying too hard to correct course way too fast!

The way I see it the author after this should take it as a wake up call to finally move this story into something concrete, the "will they won't they wishy washy Washio fake Sol" hasnt' worked, the drama with the school and with the mind controller feels forced and awkward.

But it will probably end up with trying to go back to that bland and mild SoL, ignoring everything that happened here....worst case scenario it gets cancelled into a "I'll keep being their teacher and the adventure continues".

In the middle of Julius’s previous line, Washio launches an attack, snipping off a piece of his hair.

Washio: "I taught you too. A teacher’s job is to protect their students with all their might."
Washio: "Hurry up and restore Drako to her original self!"
Julius: "Like I said, I also don't know."

Drako launches a fire breath at Washio and Washio covers. Before, she was using a different type of attack—a kind of dark magic missile.

Drako launches more dark magic missiles. Washio blocks them.

Therefore, to defeat a dragon, you either have to use firearms or unleash powerful magic strong enough to break through its magical barrier. Julius sneaks up behind Claudia and Alice.

Not sure what’s going on, Julius appears to be floating in an ethereal form above Rimnoa, Aria, Claudia, and Alice—none of them seem to notice.
