Chapter 42 - Despair and Hope
The chapter opens with Claudia descending the staircase she discovered hidden in Julius’s private lab. It’s a long spiral staircase. As she makes her way down, she thinks, “Surely, what lies ahead is the vessel for Julius-sensei’s soul…” and recalls Rimnoa-sensei’s words: “An Elder Lich is not completely astralized. Its soul remains in some form near the astral body, from which it draws a supply of magical power.”
At the bottom of the staircase, she finds a room with an altar, above which a big ring floats, radiating an ominous aura.
Claudia: “The ring… This must be it.”
Claudia approaches the altar, about to touch the ring, thinking, “This… for Washio-sensei…!” Above her, a giant skeleton wielding swords begins to emerge from the shadows on the ceiling.
Claudia notices when the skeleton is about to strike and dodges. After that, the skeleton keeps attacking, and she continues to evade each blow.
Claudia: "Kyaa—! Scary—!"
Claudia: "Help—!"
Claudia: "Just kidding ♡"
A panel shows the skeleton standing still, revealing six arms, each holding a sword. Claudia counts them.
Claudia: "One arm… two… three… four… five… six?"
Claudia strikes at the skeleton’s arms using her tentacles.
Claudia: “You’re two short if you want to take down the Kraken Tribe, aren’t you?”
Claudia: “Don’t underestimate the power of monster girls, okay?”
Claudia then targets the skeleton’s body and head with her attacks.
Claudia: "Kura~a!"
Claudia: "Kura~a!"
After the skeleton receives the blows, a panel shows the gemstone in the ring cracking.
Claudia then unleashes a rapid barrage of attacks on the skeleton.
Claudia: “Kura Kura Kura Kura
Kura Kura Kura Kura
Kura Kura Kura Kura
Kura Kura Kura Kura
Kura Fist!”
(TL note: クラクラ (kura kura) is an onomatopoeia for dizziness or wobbling.)
Claudia destroys the skeleton, and the gemstone in the ring is destroyed along with it.
The scene shifts to Julius, Rimnoa-sensei, Aria, and Alice. Rimnoa remains unconscious, Alice lies damaged on the ground, and Julius menacingly approaches Aria, who is half-sitting on the floor.
Alice: “Lady Aria… please, run away.”
Julius stands in front of Aria, who looks scared. Blushing, he says, “Making a face like that… heh heh… As expected, your despair is magnificent.”
Aria closes her eyes, terrified of what Julius might do. Julius, staring at her with a blushing, sinister smile, is suddenly struck in the face by a dropkick from Washio. Ragon(Drako) was the one who launched Washio straight at Julius.
Ragon: “Yes! Got him!”
Washio: “That was terrible… If he had stayed in his astral body, I would have turned into stardust!”
Ragon: “Sorry, sorry.”
Aria: “Washio-sensei… Drako, you’re both safe, aren’t you?”
Washio: “Yeah, we’re safe. Wh-what!? What are you wearing, Aria!!”
Aria: “Well… at least I’m not completely naked like Drako!”
Washio: “Alice… Waaaah!!! Are your legs okay!?”
Alice: “My joints were broken, but I’m fine.”
Washio: “Ehh!?!?! Rimnoa-sensei’s passed out!”
Julius is leaning against a wall, his face dented and his nose bleeding.
Julius: “…W-what… did you say…? Why… did the 'Washio Missile' made contact with me…? …No way… the ring…”
Julius sees Claudia running toward them and realizes what has happened.
Julius: “Heh… heh heh heh heh heh heh… You…”
A giant skeleton wearing a crown comes out of Julius' mouth.
Julius: “You worthless excuse for a monster!”
Aria: “W-what is this!?!?”
Ragon: “That’s huge.”
Julius reaches out with his giant skeleton hands to grab all of them.
Julius: “As a teacher, this will be my final lesson to you. I’ll… teach you despair.”
Julius: “...!?”
Before Julius can grab them, Washio begins casting a spell, forming glowing, plant-like branches.
Washio: “It’s always there, but in the light it’s so small you hardly notice it.
Yet the deeper the darkness of despair,
the darker it gets, the brighter it shines and blooms proudly—
Karen, a lovely flower.
The name of that flower is Hope.”
Washio: “This is exactly what a teacher must pass on... and at times, that very lesson... is the teacher themself!”
Several beams of light strike Julius.
Julius: “...What tremendous magical power... That's it... that's it! For my new body...!”
Julius: “Golden Eagle… you are the one…”
Julius begins to crumble into dust.
Julius: “Worthy… of…”
The final page shows Washio from behind, highlighted by a ray of light, with Julius’s dust swirling through the air.

A lame finish to a lame villain.

I don't think this is the end for Mr. "TANKED THE STORY'S RATING" man, that new body line seems like the author is stubbornly trying to keep their beloved edgy boi in the story for later.
I am still betting that the author will genderswap Julius to force him to stay in the story as a hot waifu, as a petty way to keep the character in the story.

also holy crap, if possible the author would have added music or color pages to his OC getting defeated, and still getting the last word, goddammit author threw a simple story to the mud, not gonna act surprised when the axe appear, but be glad when thr obvious similar story appears and don't f*ck up

Well, in the end if Washio had a spine a did the right thing at the beginning of this shitty arc, he could have beaten Julius in a 1 vs 1 isn’t it if only this could be a warning for him to not be a fucking spineless coward for the nexts arcs it would be good, but i highly doubt it…

I wish I could stop and look away from this, ask you to stop quoting me, I just can't stop getting disappointed, can't believe this stupid fight took this long and still had to end chapter with the fight finishing instead of allowing us to see the aftermath already.
Chapter 42........I know stories that couldn't reach 40, hell there is a whole "cancelled at chapter 19" club with Jump Magazine.
