"Survival of the Fittest"

No way the chairman is that old and doesn't know the truth of the world is ethnic nepotism.

Somehow he's never heard of wall street, the federal reserve, university legacy admissions, or his own granddaughter?
I feel like he shouldn't, but he probably believes his own bullshit.

Rua believing in it would make sense, but I suspect the author will stop at the surface level and not have the grandfather be so shrewd as to pay lip service while knowing the truth's actually the inverse (like the "real world", where the 1% will spout meritocracy to keep everyone else infighting and looking the other way).

The other thing about the badge system, is I don't think there's any set mechanism for downgrading, either.
And depending on how the badge system is implemented/monitored, it could easily be Rua who decides on the criteria for getting gold, sliver, or moving between the two.

So Rua can impose silver badges on all of the girls who are after MC, and then see them treated like second-class citizens. This is as much about punishing the likes of them, as it is punishing the MC.

The kicker, is if/when Rua finds out about this connection between the Prez and MC. The Prez is the candidate to have a gold badge, out of everyone in that school.
If Rua suddenly wants to "downgrade" her if/when she finds out about this engagement business, it exposes the farce that is this system, because who in their right mind would believe the SC President deserves a silver badge?

And Rua would absolutely try to do that, because she's letting her emotions dictate her actions more than anything, at least thus far.

Aren’t there only a few scholarship students anyway? Everyone already treats them differently so I don’t see any point to this. If Rua thinks she can use that rule to make him do what she wants she’s even dumber than we thought. He’s already gotten out from under her oppressive regime, compared with that a school rule is a piece of cake to get rid of.

Why would asking those few simple questions be scary anyway?
He is direct, perceptive and unfazed. She is probably not used to a student acting so calm and collected in front of her (since he literally doesn't give a fuck) . It makes him harder to predict and since she is council president in THIS school, she probably likes to be in control %100 of the time.

Yeh, biggest plot hole of the series.
Realistically, either he can't leave because he still has obligations to the main family, or leaving the school will invite more trouble than staying while keeping Rua sort of in check.

But the real answer is that if he leaves the school it's not going to be the same story anymore lol.
It’s the typical “this school is the best school and if you graduate from it your set for life” bs that you typically see.

I’ve also seen stories where those that drop out are seen as worse tha dirt by society or something.

”Black butterfly, the freshman wing is empty, and I’m lost in the classrooms”

The president’s assets aside, this manga has some pretty wild changes from the WN as far as i see. Ayaka being introduced before Suzuka was already a big change (Ayaka was originally girl #4 in the WN) and the part about Suzuka asking Kazu to get engaged with her isnt in the WN, she literally just said “Expelled”, then apologised.

All thats to say, i love the manga more

She had me for taking accountability in forgetting to lock the door, but then she pulled that stupid marriage stunt because she can't just get over having her 'pure' body exposed to unwanted parties by her own fault.

She might as well just expel me then and there, I wouldn't continue going to school that suddenly introduced a discriminating classist system.

Something feels off where the spoiled rich girl and Grand-daughter of the school chairman is on a scholarship.

Edit: Oh I get it, it's not a scholarship program, but the top scholarly performers.
I don't remember, but is Rua any good academically?
I have been assuming she's not, so regardless whether it's "scholarship" or "top performer", I'm confused how she was even qualified.

I'm positive she's there entirely on the merits of nepotism.

Pragmatically, her grades & academic record don't matter when it's her grandfather's money keep the school's doors open, and he treats her like a literal princess.
