Stockholm Syndrome has become something of a Self-Fulfilling Meme, however:

1.) People believe it is real or do not believe it is fake, whichever aligns with their worldview
2.) People are exposed to extreme amounts of stress they have no way to mitigate or traumas they must push through, in order to achieve a basic living quality
3.) "I must be crazy to let myself keep going through this" eventually progresses in effect to the known characteristics Stockholm Syndrome describes, even if just through psychosomatic reasoning or habits formed through survival drive.
I think the bit that is fake is that you develop romantic feelings for those holding you captive, not the "going along" with what they do. In such stressful and life threatening situations, people would do anything to survive, or more accurately, what they think will make them survive, which, again, due to the stress, might not be the most logical path. The case of Patty Hearts is the closest thing to what the Syndrome is actually described as, but she was kidnapped for a very long time, abused constantly, and secluded from everyone else but their captors. It is not a surprise something snapped on her, and it took a while even after she was separated from her captors to come even close to normal.

Honestly, if Rue actually becomes a better person, i dont think ill be that mad if she gets with the MC. NOW HOLD ON, LET ME EXPLAIN.

I would say she needs to be punished for her actions but that's already happening naturally throughout the story so i wont mention that. firstly, yes she does need to atone for what she's done and actually accept that it was wrong and most importantly DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT and not just apologize with words. those are the conditions for her redemtion.

now as to why i'd be ok with her having a redemption? its simple, because its not entirely her fault. the way she acts is much more a fault of bad parenting. Her grandpa allowing her to make the badge system is proof enough. her parents and family spoiled her and left actually raising her to another kid. what kind of horrible parent would do that???? im not suprised she turned out like this with how shes being treated. Yes i know her mom acted nice and everything, but she still didnt do anything to actually help Rue grow into a normal person at all. a parents job should be to raise a child with good morals and they completly failed at that. THEY DIDNT EVEN TRY! honetly i feel kinda bad her Rue. while yes Rue is still very at fault, im much more mad at her family for not seeing what was happening and doing something about it.

if i missed something feel free to yell at me, its been a while since i read this so i might've forgotten something.

With stories like this, where a character is introduced as an asshole and an antagonist (a lot of otome isekais, and that subgenre of "getting kicked out of the party for being useless but I'm actually amazing"), I welcome redemption arcs, but they really need to go through the ground and learn their lesson. However, I don't think I would like it if Rua and the MC end up together, even after she redeems herself. I think that takes away a bit on the lesson. I can see them being friends again, but a sign of truly turning over a new leaf and showing she has matured mentally would be to accept she wounded MC too much to be romantically involved with her, she needs to move on, let him have his life and get one for herself.

The gramps can get away with it, all he has to say is "blabber and I'll destroy her career". Their only choice would be to make an enormous scandal with enough evidence to convince Japanese courts (good luck with that).
That at least owns up to showing him as an evil person. This whole clown act he has every time he shows up just rubs me the wrong way. Might actually be by design, but it doesn't mean I should like it.

And people still believe in the rumours of the prison experiment.
It's been debunked.
The "results" did NOT indicate what people think, and the methodology was flawed (sub-teachers were put in the "warden" group, and were steering the actions of that group, etc.).
Anyone really interested can also look up the raw data. It's long enough ago, so all of that is in public domain now.
Turns out most humans are NICE, and want to do good.
There are always some evil/psychopathic/sociopathic/whatever individuals, but most people are good.

OH! If you people are interested, read "Humankind" by Rutger Bregman (Dutch historian, used to be known mostly for holding a presentation at Davos, where he diverged from what he was supposed to talk about, in order to tell the rich and powerful that they should carry their parts of the load to make our world a decent place). The book tells us the truth about all of these things we think show mankind is bad. It turns out we are kind people who want to do good. One chapter per rumoured "proof" that we are bad. All are debunked. Super hopeful reading. Really recommend it.
And if anyone has one or more of those uncles past 50 who are spiraling into darkness? It's even better for those guys. It removes all of those "proofs" they spew out about us humans being bad creatures.
And yes, for doubters, this guy is a researcher, so he provides links and references to everything he has found. So you can verify it all by yourselves!
Enjoy!

Actually, it didn't. Check out my slightly longer ;) comment to this chapter about this issue.
Suffice it to say, the research results were manipulated, and never showed what people have been saying they did.
Nice, huh? :D

I remember reading about that experiment in my psychology class.
Yeah, but the raw data have entered public domain, since it's so long ago. Turns out, they didn't show what people were saying ... Nice, huh?

Need a reminder about Gates, usually goofy and self-proclaimed saint but it's on the list.

So when will this change into battle manga? IIRC in early chapters someone told in spoilers that the "dating/romance" portion will basically go to the side, and 99% of the story will be MC soloing all the evil of the planet or some shit.

I bet he is going to find a way to flip the system to give nonscholarship student more power than the scholarship students
