It's a bit tricky because of the lack of gendered pronouns in Japanese equivalent to what we have in languages like English, but from my understanding she's saying when she first saw Aoi, she thought she was a 'hot guy' at first, but I assume she probably realized she was just a masc woman after speaking with her if that makes sense 🙂
