In overlord, mc doesn't reincarnate into a game world, he reincarnated as a game character with all his belongings/guild stuff and it all works in THE FANTASY WORLD that he is brought to. This story is similar but it's a strategy game not an mmo for the mc.
In addition, other game genres are present which makes it more interesting and ambitious in my opinion. The "witch" in the current chapter seems like a D&D character with a dungeon master narrating/rolling for her but I suspect they can only force good "rolls" for so long. I theorize that the "master" stopped communicating because a bad roll happened which will make the worst situation possible under the circumstances occur if he takes another action. Things like "will we be able to infiltrate unnoticed" and "will we be able to escape unscathed" were rolled on already but they have to rely on their own abilities once a bad roll comes up, hence the saints covering here and there. If atou uses the 100% Chance to hit attack from the rpg boss she could probably get some damage in and avoid a mind control attack afterwards due to the cooldown but also, she could probably get around it just by mc rapidly issuing new commands. Afterall, real-time strategy doesn't wait for your next move.

Ever played Supreme Commander? On extreme occasions does the commander do anything but build stuff on startup, amd only after properly upgrading is that unit viable in combat.
(Yeah, I know the strats, but most do not opt to be aggressive with their most vulnerable unit).
And if the issue is about his personality...I'd be surprised if that bothers anyone, and I hate nape-rubbing MCs. This guy is proactive and assertive in his decisions, he's not a carpet everyone walks over.
p.p.s: on current chap, the MC became more personally active, so I guess you got your cake.
