Gahd I really love these old men... the corrupt doting grandfather, the strong playboy father and the determined noble children... and of course, their ever so laid back great sage instructor.

It's nice to see Schweit change :>

and roasting orcs.. I'm pretty sure he just want a bit of that pork meat lol

tho it seems like an update would still be far ahead.

Why do orcs in anime and manga differ so much from western iterations of them? Here, they're humanoid pigs, basically. In western stories, they're usually rooted from elves that have been twisted and corrupted by dark magic...

@kami_nana Twisted-Elf Orcs are very loosely based on Tolkien (The Lord of the Rings, etc). Pig-Faced Orcs are based on Dungeons & Dragons (which is also “Western”). When the early editions of D&D came out, they had a huge influence on Japanese perception of the fantasy genre, and those images stuck. In fact, a lot of Japanese authors and artists admit that their ideas spawned from tabletop D&D games they used to play. That’s why you see pig-faced orcs and dog-faced kobolds, which are taken from the early D&D Monster Manual.

I wonder if the author originally wanted to write simple gag manga because many things in this don't care about continuity. Like telling ossan he's contradictory for hating abuse of power but still asking for a plot of land. He bought the plot of land with the wyvern magic stone (which is probably worth a very large piece of land), so where exactly is the abuse of power here? It's nowhere, that's where it is. The author simply doesn't care, he just wanted to have the conversation, which while not humour, is similar to gag manga in the sense that it doesn't need to make perfect sense.

This is obviously just the more subtle part of it. The humour itself in this series is quite gag manga style, and has even had some tsukkomi in it. Perhaps he ended up writing isekai fantasy because it's easy to sell. Making a succesful gag manga must be quite a challenge in comparison.

God I love the grandpa in this
"Hey you wanna marry my granddaughter?"
"Yeah I stole it and I'd do it again"
"If anyone fucks with you just kill them"
