Gotta do that all for money... And what kind of thin king is this?? Wouldn't this just topple the economy... but toppling it is a necessity if you want to change..

Man, do japanese people learn this type of thing in school? Cause no normal/average people wouldn't know how to create those things kk' Anime/manga logic i guess...

I'm waiting for a story where the MC decides to build a shower instead of a bath. Every goddamn time it is a bath.
And don't come telling me it's because they are Japanese, since they also have showers at their houses as well but never attempt to make one.

I'm waiting for a story where the MC starts going on about how great baths are and that he wants to build a bathtub and an NPC goes "Why not just use the public bathhouse... You shy or something?"
Since, you know, people in medieval times had bathhouses and shiz.

why no one came up with that invention?

inventions are made to make something you have to work "hard" for become easier
getting watter from a fountain with a bucket is hard work. more to you gain only low amount of water over time
using a pump you can get the water up realy easy and in a short amount of time aswell

so in a world where there is livelihood magic to "gain water" out of thin air; why would someone invent a pump ?

I call it total bs that a kid that age could remember the blueprints/mechanics of a pump like that.
Also I hate that this is another totally pushover protagonist, and a "guy" with no interest to women, even though a guy at that age will surely have his hormones working better than they need to (if you can describe it like that).
And yes you can explain him being a bit insecure/pushover by his age, but that's the reason why I hate when authors decide to have these immature young persons as protagonist, who aren't even that interesting and are clearly mentally lacking.
Probably authors just wan't to have it the easy way, since younger people can be simpler in certain ways to write.

I mean, a water pump is actually quite simple and yeah, the thought that a middle age-ish civilization doesnt know how to make one is nonsense.... the principle is waaaay over 2000 years old already... xD
And really? "Never could he remember how it is made"... ? What crappy education system did you go trough that you cant? Seriously...

You cover pumps in middle school "physics" classes.

@Silwith
Well, as was mentioned earlier, if you can fill a bucket of water by muttering a few words, you don't really need to figure out a pump for a way to draw water.
But yeah, the reciprocating pump was invented about 2200 years ago by some Greek dude(Not archimedes. He described the operational principles of a screw pump, but never actually built one, because of technical limitations at the time. Mostly because a screw pump has way more moving parts compared to a reciprocating one, and the tolerances also need to be tighter)
