Comic trio. The guys look a bit like a mix between semi-realistic manga style, and whacky cartoon style. It doesn't work. Kind of detracts from his face. She's wearing an entirely appropriate outfit for fighting off intruders, though.

If it was I forgot or didn't know.

I have reread this series many times and I cant remember them saying why he uses those helmets, I did presume it was some sort of health problem, just didn't think it was allergies.

I'm pulling this outta my ass here, but I have a faint recollection that it was revealed in the anime. Can't really confirmed but I do remember the reason being allergies as well.
