In a way thats expected, maybe not to that extreme, but certainly not unreasonable. After all, you can't "afford" to wait, say, 7 years like young people do, if you still want a familiy and stuff. (Thinking very old fashioned here, noone of course forbids you nowadays - at least here where I live - to just live together for fun.)The dude I know is married at the very least, and for his coworkers... who knows, you would have to ask them LOL.
One thing I know from my friends over there, is that dating anyone over 30 means meeting a bunch of gaijin hunters, or women who once you become a thing, a few weeks later they're pushing for marriage, and this isn't even an exaggeration.
