They dated, married and had a two years old daughter before things fell apart. So I think he was sincere at first, but his gambling addiction consumed him.

I wouldn't say he groomed her with a long-term plan to exploit her, unless he planned 3 years ahead, which would make him a mastermind criminal. Imo, his selfishness just grew later, with his obsession with money.

well, i get your point, but grooming doesn't require a multi-year master plan or malicious intent from the start. it’s about a power imbalance and trust formed in a dependent context. he was her senior colleague who trained her, and that dynamic doesn’t dissolve just because the relationship later became serious or seemed sincere.

addiction can explain why his behavior escalated, but it doesn’t erase the fact that he later exploited that trust, especially using their child as leverage to pressure her into stealing money. that’s coercion, not just selfishness. even if he didn’t “plan” it years in advance, the harm comes from how the imbalance was used once things went wrong.

In the end it didnt seem like she even loved him that much, was more the fact she was needed and was able to fulfill the needs. Convenient i guess. Meanwhile his living his life while shes taken all the shame and consequences. Since she doesnt seem to be receiving help from anyone and doesnt go home, so they're families might dont even know the true either.
Theres was a flag before, but this got really heavy. Heartbreaking. Butas Ren said, shes the type to sacrifice herself too much.
Shes desperate for money to pay back what she took or is the debt from his gambling?
