Couldn't he have just released Eligos from her contract once he got hold of the ring and all his problems would have been solved?
Him going after the other demons and being angry about the ring loosing value makes it seem like the flashback was an afterthought to make him more sympathetic (which really didn't work).

That doesn't justify him stabbing Ritsu. If all he did was threaten him, I would have forgiven him

So with that crappy excuse the best option for the reader would be for Ritsu to order Elios to kill Leo and then force her into slavery. Of course this isn't that type of manga so I'm sure he will be forgiven and allowed to live and Elios will be free from the contract (though she should be punished)
