Regarding this chapter though, it was refreshing.
It was almost like the author got criticisms from his handling of Ritsu in the previous chapters and thought to
allay those criticism through the manga itself. Honestly an interesting way of communicating with fans.
I still don't like Ritsu though. Not for the reasons the author mentioned but because he forgave someone who
straight up killed him and tried to turn his demons against him. You don't have to hate that person, but don't
become pals.
Also... while I have no issues with Ritsu's general personality he doesn't have any individual traits that stand out.
Maybe it's because I'm a westerner who actually values individuality, but even Kirito has unique personality traits, like
how he actually likes playing pranks or instantly flips on the super geek fan switch when he sees new cool gaming tech.

I love harem endings (And I think this one requires it given that they're bound to him and there's so many girls that it's ridiculous) but Ronove should not be in that bunch...
I think you can say that he definitely is a touch above most MCs in this setting, and I think that fact that he's not completely generic does give him more credit, though I'd need to re-read some stuff to do a proper breakdown of him. He's not amazingly characterized, but he's definitely better than your standard "I was your ordinary high school student" cookie-cutter MC. @TitanAnteus

It always annoys me when they equate catholicism to shintoism.
You can't be a teenaged priest, you need to spend years at the seminary. And you most certainly cannot inherit a church. Even the popes of old had trouble explaining that.
If they'd just said, christian, or simply, priest It'd be okay. But it's those little, and seemingly unimportant details that pull me out and break my suspension of disbelief.
It's like you're cruising along on the highway, singing along to the radio, and then suddenly the road disappears and you're driving over boulders.

I know I'm weird but I think the MCs who are usually in this setting aren't actually that bad. I think people give them too much flac. I still don't like Ritsu but I do think most male MCs in a school setting have something going for them.
Also I agree with your assessment of Ronove. Just let the lesbian be a lesbian. I legit hate it when authors introduce a clear lesbian character and just say they're a romantic interest. Like girls only have values if they're after the MC... it's weird... and I love reading harem manga like this. Though honestly, I don't mind the indoors glasses geek. In Sekirei one of the best heroines turned out to be Matsu because she was the strongest emotionally so when shit got real she was able to keep it together, and she new her limits. It can be done well.

Honestly, I don't even know if we have enough textual evidence to say anything definitive on Ronove's orientation, but I appreciate the position. It's possible she's bi because she fawns over both of them, but it's also possible that she just admires Mei and it's not based on sexual orientation. I'll need to see more of her to form anything definitive. @TitanAnteus

@Tamerlane - It's definitely obvious that she does hold an attraction to girls - evident with the reactions between her and Mei compared to those with Ritsu.
