@FirstDayRegister From the wikipedia article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_Handy-phone_System), it's basically just an early version of modern cell phone networks, with an extremely limited range, so it was only good in dense cities where they could place lots of transmission stations (like Tokyo).
