i love the random notes for words that we should all already know the meaning of. it's sad to say but i've seen far too many dumbasses and just straight up retards that don't know what basic words mean nor have a lick of reading comprehension on this site.

Modern Japanese rice, like most modern grains/produce, is absolutely nothing like the wild plant it originated from because it has been transformed by millenia of selective breeding for grains that are easy to remove the husk and polish and that produce soft, sweet, and slightly sticky rice. Going to a gourmet focused city said to have practically every good food in the world is actually his best bet at finding anything resembling modern rice let alone Japanese short grain rice given that no one would ever put that kind of effort into selectively breeding livestock grain but a rich gourmet might have the resources and motivation to do it.
Way to miss my point but carry on

Yeah it's just an excuse to go to another city but it would be weird to describe it as a 'city for gourmets' when ppl say "rice is used for livestock" so unless it's an 'eccentric' chef giving 'unique dishes' (if not another otherworlder/reincarnator), i would think if someone were to serve you something and call it rice, that'd come off as an insult lol, if them not having 'good quality rice/bran(?) to give to the livestock so they turn into extra tasty steaks or whatever

Wonder what typecast this one will be
Be surprising if someone with small boobs unless they can transform like succubus can

The raw site i saw/skimmed seems to be some kinda vamp girl tho?

“Do you know about it?” Wait, didn’t he have rice at that one tavern with the fat chested waitress or was that a mistranslation

Small misspelling of “cheered” up
hm, rice mention here, maybe it is a mistranslation or so or just him wanting it since even tho the page isn't in color it doesn't look like the dish has rice in it (even tho the "i'm glad they have some here" would be like implying that other places don't have it /he's surprised that there would be it but oh well i guess it's either a retcon or a mistake if the og translation isn't off)

Pre

Preparation has nothing to do with my point. Logically you'd go looking at the rice near you that is being used for livestock to see if it's usable. Instead he is just gonna fly to another town (so assuming it's pretty far away) that is based around food to get a food that isn't consumed by humans.... literally makes no logical sense
Oh, my bad. I misunderstood.

And yea i agree with you.

But we both know this is just to get the next Z cup girl.

"Umm... rice! Also called rice!"

I know this was probably in both English+Japanese or something in the raw, but it's still pretty funny.
え-と。。。
ライス。。。米ともいって稲作の

It's using four seperate terms here for rice. First is raisu, ライス, the borrowed term written in katakana.
Second and third use the same character, 米, but different readings of this character. The first of these two is meshi, which means cooked rice. Second is kome, 米, which is a blanket term to refer to rice. Mostly the uncooked type, still in its shell.
Lastly it's using insaku, 稲作, which refers to the rice-crop itself, and also the means of cultivating it.

A better way of translating the whole sentence would've been:
"If only there was rice, too.
Rice, the cooked kind, you know of it?"

I know it sounds melodramatic to say, but this who scenario peeved me so much when I read the raws that I basically stopped reading it and only followed along with the English TLs. I'm sick of the Japanese force-feeding rice, the blandest food on the planet, down peoples' throats in their media.

I think it was an error on the OG translator's part or the author just forgot about it. I don't know the other language, Indonesian or something similar, they too also called it rice.

I really hate mascot characters that add nothing to the story besides sitting around and looking cute. They only exist to eat panel space and are always humanized beyond belief, sometimes to the point of speaking.

While I am not fluent in Japanese, I believe that,
P.10 たのしい?カル (Tanoshī? Karu) means "Are you having fun? Karl (Following Ch16's spelling)"
キレイですよね (Kireidesu yo ne) means "It's beautiful, isn't it?"
