@harryno5 Welcome to the ugly reality of fire safety in Japan. No fire-proof doors, extinguishers are rare, higher floors almost never have escape-ladders... The university I went to checked where it was missing extinguishers at the beginning of the term but didn't bother replacing them, and the evac-PA didn't reach everywhere, my room for example. If a fire actually happened, I wouldn't have known until it reached my room.
