i think that this isn't exactly an earth disease, so they need slightly different antibiotics to be effective or smt. it's why anna said we had a similar disease on earth, rather than the same (resistance to magic is also a thing)

There are different anti-biotics for different diseases, none of them have the actual medical knowledge to make the diagnosis and select the right treatment, Anna's info is from a manga even. Better for her to try a locally made medicine, than to screw around with a poorly understood modern Earth medicine Naoya helped her swipe from the store.
