yeah, that's the problem of this type of plot delay/plot twist. At some point you just stop rooting for the MCs to get together, since one of them is just a cowardly asshole (at least in regard to relationships). Same thing happens in most rom-coms/harems.

Although we, as the audience, have the benefit of knowing that Ayaka is into Hiroko, Hiroko doesn't know that. Even if you are out in some parts of your life, coming out to others can still be incredibly difficult. I'm not saying she shouldn't do it, but her feelings of needing to remain in the closet at work are very relatable.

Hiroko is the most annoying main character at this point. I've never been this annoyed with a main charter since Dekisokonai no Himegimi-tachi, but she had an excuse because she was a teenager. Hiroko on the other hand has no excuse at this point.
