I didn't think it was that bad tbh. The characters are absolutely as dense as everyone says, especially Hiroko. But it didn't feel that annoying to me personally because it kinda felt like that was the point to a degree? Like that was the comedy factor to the whole story. I can totally see why it would burn people out though.
I'm mainly just a little disappointed/let down with the ending.
I really think the story needed another chapter or two after Hiroko finally relented and accepted her feelings. The story spends basically it's entire final 1/3rd making a show of just how deeply ingrained her fear of homophobia/workplace misogyny is, and how long she's spend building up a perfect image to avoid it effecting her or the others around her. The conversation they have before the final chapter doesn't feel like the conclusion to that whole ordeal, it feels like she was just now finally allowing herself that first step. Towards getting over it. The final chapter does address this somewhat, with her apology that she still feels she needs to hide it. But I would have wanted to see things develop in the meantime. To see her willingly enter the relationship with Ayaka, and have said relationship help her unravel those fears. Even if the Chapters didn't take this direct approach and were more comedic/simple, I still think it would have helped to just have anything fill that gap a little. Because as it stands, it kinda feels like it ends with nothing happening at all. Shoots right back to the status quo. Which is a bit ironic given that breaking the status quo is a bit of a theme in this story.
