i think the protagonist speech is the "you don't need to help me, so sit down" but since it was the artist mistake or the translator mistake so it became like that

While I don't know the original text, that would be the correct grammar for this case of speaking while quoting him. The original could probably still work if she was just speaking for herself.

Genuinely asking: If someone says to you "You don't need to help me, so sit down." and you want to incredulously repeat it back to them, wouldn't you flip it? "I don't need to help you, so sit down?". The raws have quote marks, if that makes any difference.

You know, I know it's a small issue, but I was thinking here's an example of two pretty common problems in translation for Japanese.

One is that expletives don't really exist in Japanese...sort of. Speakers can certainly mean to express an expletive, and to recognize it you would read it in the context. She actually just says "気持ち悪いれ". It means she's calling him disgusting/gross, but like all Japanese the severity is hard to accuse someone of. Unless you're a boor. I don't disagree with the translation, because the translator has to pin it down and make a stand on what it means and can take some liberty with it.

The other is also a related thing. The reason why expletives don't exist is because the emotional context is somewhat reversed. When you swear in English, you are assigning an emotional context to a factual context. In Japanese, you're assigning the reverse. This is why in Japan culturally 'reading the room' is more important than the 'facts' in said room. That's what you're supposed to contextualize first.

In this case, you're left to form much of both forms of context on your own on your own because there's very little exposition. Which by the way is supposed to be the charm of single panel comics and some 4-komas. Interpretation requires more imagination and is a bit more difficult, but that's supposed to be fun. It's not very obvious, but when you read an English TL of some of these, especially those PoV type stuff, some of that is lost because the TL has no choice but to make things very defined. In other words you go from defining your own context, to having to take the TLer's defined context. It's not a big deal, and it's not like are going to have a wide variation, but you still lose something there.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to accuse you of anything.
However, the first line as it is mixes up who is the one helping and who is refusing it. Originally, he is refusing her potential help; the translation reads as if she is refusing to help him.

Completely agree. The intent is there, it just reads a bit awkwardly, which really could find itself on either side of language.

Whatever the case, we know that she's parroting back and throwing it into his face.
