I'm beginning to think that she's talking to the reader and not the self insert.
Aren't those the same thing?
I wouldn't be surprised if the mc takes her rejections as a silent cry for help, and continue to persevere in trying to help her and thus continue the cycle until one of them gives.
Pretty much. She's being venomous but still taking his offerings. If she really didn't want it she wouldn't take the food he gives her. Nor would she come up to him just because he left her alone for a day.

"Does it make you feel good to be in such a sorry state that you are helpless to do anything about, and still reject people's help? If you don't want to be pitiful, consider accepting the help and get out of this situation. Maybe then, you won't be weaker than me anymore."

I think that's how the manga will progress, lol.

Damn...and here i thought things were slightly getting better. That aside, she sure does talk a lot... well, then again, she's the only one...

Welp I ran out of ideas on what to shitpost, since the story is going on a loop now.

Aah, I do. It's just kind of saddening watching her like this every chapter, you know.
Definitely get that. It could be that, for her, school is the only time that she's able to be away from everything going on at home, and that talking with the lead keeps it always present?

It's really a state of mind that highlights the divide between having sympathy and having empathy.

So...does japan not have some equivalent of child protective services? The abuse is kinda blatant enough that I'm pretty sure her parents would be immediately hotlined and had their parental rights terminated.

Not saying the foster system would be much better, but still...
