What an amazing series. Azumi is one of my all time greatest manga, and I can confidently say that I have enjoyed every single arc. It is one of those manga where you binge 5 volumes in a single night because it’s so hard to put down, just to read another 5 volumes tomorrow.

So, I guess Azumi is a Mary Sue...?

That became clear pretty quickly in the story. Not a single wound sustained and an open killcount in the 1000s as a foreign "assasin".

It had really wonderful art and battle choregraphy and a wonderful introduction arc,so its no surprise it became a massive hit . So i liked it quite a bit, but the mary sue thing became a massive annoyance in the last half.

She is just so unrealistically strong,so theres never any danger in battle. In the end it always ends up in hostage situations and allies dieing to create drama and suspense.
