I always got the impression that Arararagi aren't powerful enough to defeat Kanbaru in the anime.
This kinda explain why he didn't win more, he's not went all out on her huh.

Yeah Anime Araragi was always on the receiving end, and it's refreshing to see him basically going toe to toe with his adversaries in this version.

Yeah, I never understood why Anime Araragi, despite being one of the most powerful ... how should I call it ... entities around, due to his vampireness and having the chibi vampire always around, was always being the butt of the joke ... even when it was clear ( like in Kanbaru arc and others ) that he could, if wanted , to "solve" things via a one-sided beating :/

This Manga, fortunately, is more nuanced .

Koyomi isn't a fighter and Monogatari isn't a series about combat. Just beating the other individual down is never the actual point of any arc in the series. Koyomi actually hates the more inhumane powers he has like transforming limbs and such.

Araragi being the butt of the joke and getting beaten to shreds is something only he can do because of his vampireness.
"Solving" things via a one-sided beating would only be temporary solution when the underlying problems are personal to the characters. It would not prevent another entity from taking over or change them for the better.

Araragi is looking for the ideal solution, to help them help themselves.
