It seemed like the old man was curious if Hanayama would be able to hold on to his sense of aesthetics and code of manliness if he went up against Jack's vicious biting style, but it seems like a silly question, no? Hanayama went up against Musashi and didn't waver, I don't see him changing because of a little nibble. What was he getting at?

these guys have a really weird sense of sexual dichotomy
everytime is 'this is a women and childrends thing' while they se it decimate the strongest warriors there is

next they are going to say kicking or using weapons is a woman and children offense
where is Doppo Orochi or Oliva's woman saying this is all bullshit and gotta win
besides, Baki slaps and kicks nuts

And yeah, Hanayama got that aesthetic for sure

I would say sexuality, what counts as gay or not, theatrics of gender, a sense of superiority of men and all of that is warped in certain combat sports or something that's reserved for men who have to do heavy theatrics of masculinity.

For example, the UFC is the fruitiest and zestiest shit ever, like UFC combatants staredown or gay wedding grooms photo is a meme, and they all live in this kind of bubble where they project this extreme manliness but for anyone outside some aspects look pretty gay. And this manga is an example of that, sometimes comes off as super gay and women are reduced to the stereotype you would expect from it, but if you get into these characters thinking and lifestyle, it's pretty straightfoward and logical to think and act like that.

Like Yuujirou threatened to rape the old man. The manga put it like he is so incredibly manly, his testosterone is so high he sees regular men as women too. Yeah, once you get into that kind of logic, sure, it's absolutely not gay and is super duper straight.
