Imma go out on a limb here and suggest these guys build paper model. Those take tons of time to complete and need to do detail careful work, very suitable to shut somebody up, and if you make a mistake then it is easy to fix and redone at very low cost.
Children 13+ is ok I think.

Ah finally the 4wd. The last time I build a 4wd, it still using T chassis (I forgot its exact name, the front part is directly integrated to the body), it was long ago. I remember I have several types of Emperor series, a Burning Sun with a motor at the front. Damn nostalgia.

God damn, just use sprue cutters people. As someone who models, using a box-cutter on them is a bitch. You use a sprue cutter to get them off, get an Xacto-knife to remove the mold lines and then use a file to remove the excess. You don't just go ham on the sprue itself, you'll damage the kit.
