With his comments about how everything tastes like sand, and how screwed up his animal instincts are... I'm beginning to understand why he's so screwed up. He's pretty much the WORST combination of traits he could possibly be, apparently.
Though carnivores are actually known to have far fewer tastebuds than herbivores and omnivores. So if he got a carnivore tongue in his genetic lottery (which seems probable), he would have far less of a sense of taste than if he got his gazelle taste buds.

I mean, it's less the type of needle or whatever and more that instead of putting the needle and drawing or filling them coming off in short bursts like a normal tattoo artist he places the needle against the skin for way longer periods of time. So it's just that everything is in contact longer which...uh, sucks.

This is my favorite manga right now but man the whole tattoo part just really didn't work. For anyone who knows anything about the tattoo process the whole thing makes 0 sense. The more I try to think about it the more my brain hurts. Forget artistic vision, just took me straight out of the story, which is a shame since this manga is otherwise top notch.

Time to do my usual chapter review

Considering how humans have varieties with burgers, It seems off to see a menu for just Carnivore/Herbivore. They don’t varieties either? Then again, with next pages shows it does have options, so Paru wanted things to be simple.

I feel for Melon. Even Legoshi mention the importance of eating in Chapter 115 pg 6, as it is proof that one is alive. Ch 135 also mentioned the importance of eating, but isn’t as meaningful as 115. But what value does eating have if you can not taste it. On a different series, Rising of the shield hero, See how Naofumi lost his sense of taste. Similar symbolism.

I had the theory that Melon wasn’t raised by love of both his parents. Melon notes he experience both Herbivore [fear by Carnivore] and Carnivore [to kill] trait, but while that may be due to genetics, I’m sure his parents would have explain that to him. For example, Legoshi X Haru’s Child, Legoshi would have explained his struggles, and Haru can explain how she struggled against her fear. So without Parents, that mean either leopard [Mom] ate the gazelle [Dad] parent, or Melon was abandoned.

Is it normal for customer to walk in, and see tattooist working on someone that naked?

Holger confuses me. If he is that skilled, why don’t more people go to him instead of just Melon? If this is normal, why was there a shift? And if he is skilled, why would it cause so much blood, even if he is slow?
Minor note, but I was told Holger tattoo actually says Agile instead of secrets

I guess pain being Melon proof for being alive make sense. Without taste, one have to find another meaning for being alive. Actually, meaning of life was actually brought up in Chapter 42 when Legoshi asked Jack about his reason for being born as a wolf

I’m not sure how I feel about Legoshi getting a Tattoo. I’m fine with scars since those are meaningful to him. He better have something about Shishigumi, Louis, Haru, Jack, Leano, Jack, or 701.

Regarding Legoshi’s smell, Chapter 74 and 91 mentions his scent vault. However, Legoshi did a person smell of Pina and Louis. Where he only has Melon smell from the mask, which may have led Legoshi to Melon’s blood.

Luz Melon took half a day with a sloth, and Legoshi ask for a full day tattoo.

I wonder what was Legoshi plan if he did run into Melon. At best he could have told Yayfa to help make a trap...

She is taking a bit too many artistic liberties, by this point she is just starting to look ignorant about the world.

I can understand Melon getting off on being tattooed for messed up psychological reasons (that probably morphed into something bdsm-like as well) but the tattooing process is so confusing... like why would someone bleed that excessively from a tattoo, also how would even come out looking good and not just scar tissue, and also you can only tattoo skin not fur? Maybe it's Japan's ignorange and revulsion around tattoos showing? But it's strange the artist didn't research it better even then. This took me out of things. If it were me I would change it to being something like 'tattooing changes the color of the fur that grows back' and that Melon would simply get off on the process and not bleed all over the place because that makes no sense.
