Time for my usual Chapter review. Huge shoutout to Soundfox, 5pike, Wulfy, Jujstme our typesetter and cleaners/redrawers. Special guest of Mei form SuMeBe Scans for the extra work [which is why we needed to take more time to release]. Amazing work with all the signs
Title: Be Stars. This is a call back to 158 where Legoshi actually did a name drop on title, which Louis noted Beastars is not actually a thing [the plural form]. My friend when watching the Anime, wondered on the title, what does it Mean. He came out with the idea Be A Star, which is similar to title here.
Page 1: Follow up to ch 188, In theory Gosha could have thrown them over the gate. But he had to break it open despite Yahya statement.
The Panther’s reaction is flashback to 154, whale chapter. Where Carnivores protected Herbivore, and did not actually want to eat meat. It really a sense of denying shame when shown to someone they care about. Like how Dudes would burn their porn when confronted by their partner.
Fun Fact: Page 8 could not be posted on discord [like a few other pages] due to being too explicit. Went why…. Till we saw the shadow on the bottom left….
Louis: Carnivores need meat. Embrace the truth in BAM. Result: Carnivores destroying BAM, and end up denying themselves of meat…. And poor shop keeper like the snapping turtle in ch 56 in this destruction
Page 10 feel like a big step back of ch 187. Ch 187 has Legoshi gather his resolve and fine with killing to keep himself alive. Then nope. And it feel like something is missing since Legoshi was on top of melon in 188, so the way the position got reversed…. If the issue is Killing, Legoshi could have heavily mained Melon such as break an arm… Well at least it not complete siding for Melon since legoshi is still fighting back
When looking at ch 188, Legoshi held back when Melon said kill me. Then Legoshi didn’t want to do so, then Melon flips the table. Do note that Melon consider himself as the embodiment of what is wrong with society. See how he is able to move things in 156, how he able to hide in the city center, and how society defined melon.
Turf war is a key turn. This whole thing is not 1v1 fight at all, but fight for territory. Legoshi & Melon used this for their fight, but don’t forget the steps to get there. While the Dokugumi fight was not as impressive, it showed a key factor of how Savon got his men to join in the fight, reminding this is not 1v1 fight at all. Rather Savon fight, the way fight ended shows the turf war aspects.
Flashback to ch 167 of the Quiz. Legoshi only put down a Line, which could mean l for L for Legoshi or l for B for Beastars. It is easy to assume L for Legoshi, but you can see how the ghost see more. Do note the Ghosts obviously know Legoshi’s name since they gave Legoshi & Melon the name tags for the Quiz show. And the Legoshi could have mentioned he was trying to write Beastars when saying ran out of ink.
Louis seeing Beastars remember ch 158, where Legoshi said to do things TOGETHER. Afterall, Beastars as plural is a new word. Flash back to Louis vow in 175 as well.
Since Louis is here, it fine if we don’t see more of Legoshi’s party as Beastars, since they are the two front runners of it
Last few pages is hype, not much to comment on. But Legoshi’s actions are no longer in the shadows unlike the previous times. Now in the for front
Despite the hype of this chapter, I give this only ⅘. The Whole Melon vs Legoshi dropped the ball of the chapter that it wasn’t worth it…. The Beginning and Ending are epic, but middle just doesn’t do it justice. Like she can’t have Legoshi's mind made up.

So, if I'm not mistaken, the idea that the Back Alley Market being hidden away from the herbivores is what allowed the carnivores to be able to use it without hating themselves...
But when Louis told the herbi's that they can't ignore it anymore and they saw the reality of what goes on there, the carni's couldn't hide their shame any more and they all destroyed it?
Also, Louis as Bane was top tier.

First of all, I want to really thank you guys for your hard work translating the manga, I read a translation in my native language and this chapter ended up really confusing to me but your version makes way more sense and i actually understood what was going on. Thank you so much.
As for the chapter itself. I'm happy to see that the story is capitalizing on the fact that this a turf war, whoever wins this will be the new leader of the Back Alley Market, I'm excited to see the repercussion of everything that it's happening, and what will be of the B.A.M. Also that scene with the whiteboard was absolutely amazing, it feels that the whole point of the manga turning into Kaiji for two chapters was to establish that, and honestly, it was worth it.
As for the chapter itself. @cromat I think its less about the carnivores needing meat in this case, and more so just destroying this public nonpublic secret that they need it. Rather than making it illegal, taboo, or something akin to doing hard drugs in our day in age, it's gonna be more open, more understanding hopefully. Rather than be ashamed, just know that it just happens, and rather than holding yourself back and say "no no no, i'm not like those carnivores", its more like, "yeah I eat meat. sorry, but it is what it is".
