Thanks for the chapters!
Wonder how long before Aaron complains to the Archduke about not only increasing his stress, but locking up his means of relieving it. ? Surprised she hasn't written down the recipes, instructions of use, and ingredients needed for Aaron's and his daughter's treatments considering it's been a few days and likely to be at least a few more days. Be nice if while being threatened by Archduke Howl moves in between to defend her. Granted the Archduke acts like a cold blooded monster but it's not surprising considering the trauma his mother put him through and all the corrupt nobles has to deal with on a daily basis like his greedy father or occasional meetings with dishonorable, traitorous scum like Gilbert who only care about acquiring wealth and influence even if it means stabbing a long time friend (Chloe's father,) and selling out his wife to be killed (Chloe.) Although unlike that redhead does have some compassion buried under that strict exterior as does care about Howl and gave Chloe a chance to find out Howl wasn't responsible for accident and cure him instead of just killing Howl for what he initially perceived as a capitol offense. Besides, there was that foreshadowing earlier of how his subordinate was hoping someone could heal and reawaken the Archduke's heart with the scene of him and Chloe (dressed like a noble) together.
@Magicat While it's a nice thought reality in any world is rarely kind. Assuming Trigger would be willing to leave his job he'd have to quit or risk pursuit as nobles can't allow their subordinates to run off without a word and not punish them without risking other subordinates doing so. As for Chloe she's probably considered Aaron's property rather than a person and a war slave so would be pursued and punished severely to prevent other slaves from considering escape and partially for stealing her master's property (meaning herself.) Also, even today buying and raising horses is expensive as the horses themselves cost a lot, need a large amount of land to allow the horses to exercise and roam, would have to be far enough not to get caught but near enough to nobles who are the only ones who could afford to buy horses, and would need to hire at least around a dozen people for various jobs such as maintaining the stalls, tending sick/pregnant horses, repairing fences and patrolling, acquiring and distributing the horse feed, and exercising the horses. While Trigger seems to have experience with horses Chloe likely has never ridden one on her own, doesn't know how horses act or react to things, and while very experience in a medbay is mostly used to examining and treating humans. Horses have a different body makeup so would be differences in some reactions to various plants and amount needed per dose. Only in stories can a lot of medicine be given with no ill effects, in reality have to balance carefully the dosages as too little won't have enough effect, and too much could have harmful side effects. Like aspirin, for example, it thins the blood to make it easier to help deliver what's needed around the body but too much and it'll hamper the blood clotting and healing of a cut causing more blood to flow out before the body can patch the wound up.
@blob Ok being a vet would give her some knowledge, but most vets I know tend to treat a variety of breeds of cats, dogs, and birds. Unless a stable was nearby treating a horse was rare. Also, considering it's been about 23 years since she reincarnated how likely is it that she treated a horse as a slave in a small village? Considering the cost, space needed, etc. to maintain a horse's health almost all horses would be owned by the military or nobles who'd likely keep their own vet on hand so they'd be in the immediate area without having to run to and fro looking for them if something happened, security and trust using a known vet rather than a slave of unknown reputation, and the usual arrogance of trusting and valuing a free citizen over a slave.
