Looks like Chloe is determined to make the best of things. Btw, while a shame she cut her hair for two reasons. First is that as Chloe she originally had short hair and had to grow it out as "princess" Beatrice. Second is to avoid being recognized as a former princess. As a common slave while she might get ordered around or bullied a bit the other servants and nobles are less likely to go out of their way to bully her, especially considering she does good work and has a cheerful attitude. However, if recognized as a princess there will be those who look down on her and want to show their superiority by bullying her since normally they'd get in big trouble for even speaking badly of a princess.

5 chapters in and yeah... its pretty normal, but these authors are soooo shit with how to start a story, seriously, that there is a romance tag after this (and i mean, i guess its mostly about that) is just disgusting after how the male lead is. They will come with the "the king was a bad man that pretty much sold her out ect ect" and thats right, but that doesnt change that he was fine with murdering innocents, enslaving them ect, its just a disgusting character.

Grammar a little off. Chloe is the king's biological daughter too, not just her half sisters. Should be legitimate daughters or queen's biological daughters, not the king's biological daughters. Speaking of the queen, anyone know what happened to her before Rolando invaded? In any case, the point is that the scum Gilbert wanted to marry one of the king's legitimate daughters born through his wife the queen to get a claim to the throne and have his kids inherit the royal trait of blond hair. For some reason king couldn't say no but remembered Chloe so acknowledged her so could give her, who had dark hair, to Gilbert instead of the daughters he's been doting on and spoiling rotten. Also why he ignored any cries for help much less do anything about Gilbert's abuse to her.

Uyangaa565 She happily spent first 20 years of her life as a slave while the two years she spent as a princess was hell due to her husband's daily abuse and beatings while her biological family looked down on her and ignored her plight for selfish reasons. So while doesn't have human rights she's doing fulfilling constructive work, is enjoying herself as long as doesn't come across Rolando or Leo, and isn't being abused or beaten for no reason. She's said it herself was happier as a slave than a princess. As for coming from modern day there are lots of black companies that abuse and practically treat their employees like slaves or worse. Such as being abusive to employees, forcing unpaid overtime for extended periods, little if any benefits, and instances where force people to keep quiet about being sexually harrassed.

Well now the mood is entirely different... The start of this manga gave off a heavy feeling with all the slaughter and violence.. Now, it's going back to all roses.. It felt like a switch was turned off...
