I like the MMC more in this chapter than the last, but there's still moments where I raise my eyebrow - what he's often doing doesn't come across as romantic, but childish and lame. Jumping onto her lap like a dog in front of their parents? Asking to be pet? Bleh! It makes me cringe.
I don't find such juvenile behaviours appealing in female character either, mind you.

It would have been nice if it was explained how he solved the MC's Father's problem too, as we're just told he pulled some strings, and we're supposed to be impressed by his smarts... but what strings did he pull? What did he do that was a display of intellect? Hopefully they show of his smarts properly in later chapters.
