- Ok, yeah, that's kind of weird. I imagined it as Schierke spending all this time following the branches, and now she's finally arrived in Elfhelm.
Do you mean to say "finally arrived in Falconia"?
- Yeah, I think there was more to Rakshas that Miura was going to reveal. I don't know if there's a reason why he didn't get sucked into the Vortex of Souls the same way apostles do and he just turned into black goop, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's just because Mori didn't want to add in stuff that wasn't explicitly said by Miura.
Well even Miura himself didn't show the vortex of souls appearing on the physical plane to observers every single time an apostle is killed. Like we didn't see it appear when Guts killed the Female Apostle and Snake Baron in the very first volume of the series. And then when Rosine dies at the start of the Conviction Arc Lost Children Chapter we don't see it either (though admittedly that could also be more of a cinematic cut-away). There's also the Apostles Guts and the Skull Knight kill during the Eclipse, no vortex is shown sucking in their Apostle forms either.
And even if you want to dismiss the Female Apostle and Snake Baron as examples of early installment weirdness/lore not being decided yet and the Eclipse being an exception because it didn't occur in a normal plane of existence, there is still the instance of when Guts dons the Berserker Armor for the first time (when Flora's tree is being burned down) and he slaughters a number of Apostles before facing Grundbeld, and again no vortex of souls is shown sucking their apostle forms away.
Also its fair to assume a few apostles died fighting the Ganishka Shiva spawn during the big battle in volumes 33-34, and we didn't see vortexes appearing then either (though that admittedly as the excuse of it being a chaotic battlefield and Miura isn't going to show the immediate aftermath of every single Apostle death).
