Hope this is not a transformation or physical power up. Griffith can't be defeated by force, neither physical or astral, the imperior tried and failed, the mother fuckin Skull Knight tried and failed. If this will end with Guts that physically defeats Griffith I would be disappointed.

He does need to give up, cease the struggle, and sink into the terrifying paralysis. Guts is like a dog that refuses to touch water and violently fights the incoming wave. Every piece of trauma he collected comes from being being caught down to the floor, brutalized, and humiliated, like prey that is torn apart. Then comes the shame of aggression, he thinks himself an infanticide and a beast. Usually the incoming wave of brutality could very well lacerate him horribly, now this is a chance for him to face it in "a safe place".

If not a cultivated priest, Guts is coming out of the chamber having conquered serenity. He is literally grounding himself onto himself, as it seems.

I don't think Guts is going to give up his humanity and transcend. It's been him, in human form, struggling against monsters, desperately trying to survive using human tools, magical armor and wielding a sword that has bathed in curses. The man has remained constant while his tools of war have evolved.

I doubt the "human" aspect of Guts is going anywhere. Maybe he'll get his body restored by somehow reclaiming his arm and eye that were lost in the Eclipse. Regaining them may trigger a change in Griffith as part of the sacrifice that birthed him has been revoked. This would enable his ultimate demise as a flaw would have opened up in this no longer perfect being.
