There was some level of mystical destiny foreshadowing with the whole White Falcon prophecy. Initially, it seemed like Griffith, obviously, but then Guts had that white streak occur in his hair at one point.

I think the answer is both yes and no. He always had some of the "other side" due to his birth making him both human and inhuman at the same time.

I think they are trying to reflect that both him and Griffith are different sides of the same coin: Griffith was someone that embraced his inhumanity while Guts embraced his humanity despite both not fully belonging to any side, and abandoning one part of themselves.

Both sides are not inherently good or evil theres are good in the non human side(Puck, benevolent spirts etc) and theres evil in human side (no need to put examples) both they simply are.

We got hints of that very early on. Remember when Guts's life was saved when he befriended an small flower spirit.

That was way before the time when he got into the Band of the Hawk. He could probably always see into the supernatural.
