Astral doesn't just mean "star". Are you familiar with the term called "Astral plane"?

The Astral plane is a theoretical realm of existence, intermediate between the physical world and heaven, postulated by classical, esoteric, and New Age philosophies.

In mystical and spiritual contexts, it refers to a non-physical, higher realm or a spiritual plane of existence connected to the soul, often associated with out-of-body experiences.

When I look at Dark Horse's translation they have merged the two terms used my Miura. 幽界 (world of the dead) and 精神の世界 (astral world), the first one is called the second, explaned in ch 201. This chapter uses the first term with different reading from what Miura used (could be an oversight). So translating it as Astral world would be equally correct. I can't do fixes for the chapter unfortunately so this will have to do.

After reading the comments and being reminded of Guts' origin story, this does seem like something Miura had planned a long time ago.

However, I think the execution wasn't great. The art was amazing but this very much felt like a shonen power-up, and it feels out of place in Berserk. I also lament the limited dialogue we continue to get in these chapters. I'm well aware of the reasoning and the cause but it still doesn't change my opinion and remains a personal pain point.

The post-Miura chapters are great at "showing" the rest of the story, but poor at explaining it and integrating it into the rest of the series.

I still remain grateful that we even get a conclusion at all, but yeah, a bit disappointing.

For those that didn't know, the new mangaka writing Berserk (best friend of miura) said that the following chapters and this one are part of one of the most important moments of Berzerk according to Miura. He described it to him countless time without being sure of how to adapt it. His friend thought about how to draw it for a long time and this is the final version.

I dont like changing Guts from a Man against Fate itself, into the special unique existence. His whole life he fought against Fate, he was proclaimed as not a chosen one, to the point where Godhand decided to give him behelit anyway, just to see what will happen. As far as I remember, its been decades. His sword is demon slaying sword not because a wizard enchanted it, but because he slain countless demons with it.

I don't think there's ever been a point in the story where his existence wasn't reinforced as unique. He was born from a corpse, one of the strongest child soldiers ever, had a strong connection to fairies and spirits as a child, killed one hundred men alone, regularly killed demons alone, survived the eclipse and was able to lift and wield a sword that no one could use.
He's always been extraordinary.

He kind of always been. He literally was born from a corpse. Then he got branded. Started swinging a sword that no human was supposed to be able to even lift... started hanging with witches...
He never was your average mercenary.

Regretfully i must say that Miura's death probably saved this manga.
If he was still alive Guts would still be on fairy island playing with loli witches and pedo-baiting fairies.

It was a great chapter to me. Art was amazing and I like this reveal. (especially since it was forshadowed)
And considering the power up, I mean there was no way around that. If done right, I don't mind power ups at all.
Also everyone is free to like or dislike it but its a bit funny to me when people say "This is not the Berserk from Miura anymore" despite the team following exactly what he intended to. Cmon guys, thats great stuff. Lets be happy Berserk keeps going.

This annoys some people, but fr it makes so much sense. Guts been in an agonizing battle & death soaked tragedy throughout his entire life, he has fought & survived things that noone could possibly could not just once, but several times and that was before he got his Berserker armor powerup. He's an Struggler through & through and that might be the single thing that goes for him if he wants to even stand against Griffith.
