Think about it, if Guts doesn't wear an armor Serpico would beaten him? Serpico's attack are so fast but because of the armor they are blocking and he can dodge Guts' attacks. Yes Serpico playing dirty but remembering their second duel in the open field, i believe that Serpico is a really good swordmaster. Even though he didn't have a past and fighting experience like Guts.
