[In his best Sir David Attenborough nature film voice]: "And here we see the suburban tomboy in the midst of her mating season. She's a bit startled by having run into an eligible juvenile male, and inflamed by his proximity, removes her winter coat and briefly shows off her mating plumage. The male, however, has not entered his rut, and mostly ignores the attempts. The tomboy attempts to follow the male back to his den but is met by the juvenile male's mother. Mistaking her for a rival, our little girl is intimidated by the mature female and instead retreats into the night streets rather than risk an altercation--defeated this time, but unbroken."
